Partial Truckload Shipping from Los Angeles

AJE Freight Solutions moves partial truckload freight from Los Angeles to anywhere in the country. If your shipment runs between 5 and 18 pallets, partial is usually faster than LTL and cheaper than a full truck. Common questions below.

Partial truckload compared to LTL and full truckload trailer space from Los Angeles

Do you have partial load coverage from Los Angeles?

Yes. Partial load coverage from Los Angeles is one of our core lanes, and we move partial truckload shipments out of the LA basin to every state in the country.

Partial truckload fits the gap between LTL and a full truck — generally 5 to 18 pallets, or roughly 8 to 30 linear feet of trailer. You pay for the space your freight occupies instead of the whole trailer, and unlike LTL, your pallets aren’t routed through terminals and cross-docked along the way.

We cover outbound lanes from Los Angeles, Long Beach, Vernon, Commerce, City of Industry, Carson, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, and the wider Inland Empire, including freight coming off the ports and out of local warehouses. Send your pallet count, dimensions, and destination and we’ll have a rate back to you, usually within the hour.

Partial pricing is based on the linear feet your freight occupies, its weight, and current capacity on the lane — not on freight class. That last part matters. LTL rates depend on a class rating that penalizes light, bulky freight, so a shipment of 10 lightweight pallets can price far higher than its weight suggests. Partial pricing skips class entirely, which is why it often comes in below the LTL quote for the same freight.

As a rule of thumb, partial makes sense once you’re past about 6 pallets or 5,000 pounds. Below that, LTL is usually cheaper. Above roughly 18 pallets, a full truckload typically wins. In between, partial is generally the lowest-cost option that still moves direct.

Because Los Angeles takes in enormous inbound volume from the ports, outbound capacity is deep and competitive. Carriers repositioning east are actively looking for partial freight, and that works in your favor on rates.

We quote partial, LTL, and full truckload side by side so you can see all three rather than guess.

Anywhere in the continental United States. Common lanes out of LA include Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Louisville, Columbus, Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Nashville, Charlotte, Miami, and the New York and New Jersey metro area.

Typical transit from Los Angeles runs about one day to Phoenix or Las Vegas, two days to Denver, Salt Lake City, or Dallas, three days to Chicago, Houston, or Minneapolis, and four to five days to Atlanta, Miami, or the Northeast. LTL on those same lanes usually adds two to four days, because partial freight drives direct instead of passing through a terminal network.

Partial loads can also include liftgate service, residential or limited-access delivery, appointment scheduling, and temperature-controlled equipment. Mention what you need when you request a quote so we assign the right truck the first time.
