Warehousing and Distribution

Somewhere for your freight to wait.

Not every shipment moves straight from origin to destination. When your freight arrives before you need it, when a receiver isn’t ready, or when a container has to come off the port today, warehousing bridges the gap. AJE Freight Solutions arranges storage and handling that keeps your inventory moving instead of sitting in the way.

What Is Warehousing Service?

Warehousing is short or long-term storage of your freight in a secured facility, along with the handling that goes with it: receiving inbound shipments, palletizing, inventory counts, and releasing freight when you call for it.

We work through a network of partnered warehouse facilities rather than a single building, which means we can put your freight where it actually needs to be. Every partner facility is vetted for security, insurance, and handling capability before we place a customer’s inventory in it.

For importers, warehousing is often what makes the timing work. Containers have to leave the terminal within a few days of discharge or demurrage begins, but your own facility may not have room yet. Moving that freight into a warehouse stops the clock on both demurrage and per diem while your inventory waits.

For domestic shippers, warehousing smooths out the difference between how freight arrives and how it needs to go out. Receive a full truckload, then release it in smaller shipments as your customers order.

How It Works

  1. Share your storage details. Tell us what you’re storing, how much of it, the expected arrival date, and how long you need the space. Note whether the freight is palletized, floor-loaded in a container, temperature-sensitive, or hazardous.
  2. Receive a quote. We price storage by pallet position or square footage, plus handling in and out, and send you a clear rate. Storage terms and any minimums are stated upfront rather than buried in a contract.
  3. Inbound receiving. Your freight arrives and is checked against the packing list, counted, and recorded. Discrepancies are reported to you the same day rather than discovered weeks later.
  4. Storage and inventory. Freight is stored in a secured facility with inventory tracked by lot, SKU, or pallet. You know what’s on hand without having to call and ask.
  5. Release and outbound. Call for your freight and we schedule the outbound move in whatever mode fits: full truckload, partial, LTL, flatbed, expedited, or a series of smaller releases over time. Because we arrange every mode in house, you are not limited to whatever the warehouse happens to offer.
  6. Delivery and paperwork. Freight ships on your schedule, and you receive proof of delivery along with an updated inventory count.

Services We Provide

Short-term and overflow storage

Space for freight that arrives before you need it, seasonal inventory, or overflow when your own facility is full.

Transloading

Transfer freight from an ocean container into a domestic 53-foot trailer. A 40-foot container’s contents often fit into fewer trailers than expected, and transloading stops per diem from running on the box.

Cross-docking

Move freight from an inbound truck to an outbound one without putting it into storage at all, when the timing lines up.

Container devanning

Unload floor-loaded containers and palletize the contents for storage or onward shipment.

Pick and pack

Break down bulk inventory into smaller outbound orders as your customers call for them.

Inventory management

Counts, lot tracking, and reporting so you know what’s on hand and what’s moving.

Where We Store Freight

We arrange warehousing near the major ports and inland distribution markets where freight most often needs to stop: Los Angeles and Long Beach, the Inland Empire, Phoenix, Dallas and Fort Worth, Houston, Savannah, Charleston, Chicago, Columbus, Louisville, Atlanta, and the New York and New Jersey metro area.

Storing freight near the port it arrived at is usually the cheaper move, since it lets you pull the container immediately and pay drayage rates rather than long-haul rates on inventory you aren’t ready for.

Once you’re ready, we move it anywhere in the country in any mode you need: full truckload, partial truckload, LTL, flatbed, drayage, or expedited. One point of contact handles the storage and the transportation on the same bill, so nothing gets lost between a warehouse that only stores and a carrier that only hauls.
